ITI to unveil Next Generation Data Center

Bangalore, June 25, 2009:

ITI Ltd has established Next Generation Data Center of international standards at Doorvaninagar in the city to provide customer-centric services to Government as well as private enterprises.
Mr.Siddartha Behura, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, will inaugurate the Data Center planned over an area of 1,20,000 sq feet on June 30. The existing facility occupies 75,000 sq feet and the rest of the expansion will take place in phase II by the end of this year. “The center will play a big role in providing comprehensive service portfolio on turnkey basis to users”, says Mr. S.K. Chatterjee, CMD, ITI Ltd.

ITI Data Center will have an edge over other Data Centers not only through its complete range of data center services but also in terms of its infrastructure, effective and eco-friendly fire suppression facilities, high level of security, carrier neutrality, availability of power, precision controlled environment and 24 x 7 support services.

ITI Data Center is being set up in collaboration with Trimax Data Center Services Limited (Trimax), Mumbai. With this, ITI has taken a first step towards expansions of its activities to generate revenue on sustainable basis. The public-private partnership model is the first of its kind in the data center business. The center will serve the growing needs of government, public and private, companies to digitally store, update, transmit and secure data.

Bangalore is an ideal location to establish such a Data Center since the city has proximity to India’s IT sector which is crucial for Data Center activity. Seismically Bangalore is one of the stable locations in India.

ITI notches-up highest turn over in seven years

 

Bangalore, May 18, 2009:

The ITI Ltd has achieved a turn-over of Rs.1,829 crores for the financial year 2008-09 which is the highest for the past seven years.  Despite facing severe financial constraints, it has been a satisfying year for the company especially on the production front.  According to Mr. Ravi Agarwal, Director (Production), the manufacturing, installation and commissioning activities constituted about 82% of the turn-over while trading contributed to about 18%.

The company has been able to garner the support of the Government, the Ministry of Communications in particular for revival of the company which takes care of cleaning the balance sheet thereby infusing the required working capital.

 The company has fixed the MoU target for the year 2009-10 at Rs.5,760 crores.  “With a healthy order book position of over Rs.6,000 crores, ITI aims to achieve this MoU target”, says Mr. Agarwal.
